North America’s easternmost ski and snowboard area is at White Hills Resort, but it is not all about making tracks on the 27 sweeping downhill trails. The Clarenville community welcomes you for cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, snowshoeing, snowball rolling, and all sorts of other family fun. Here, we do winter your way.
Don’t think of winter as the boss. You are in charge and town weather won't keep you indoors! Ski midweek and have the hill to yourself. Visit on the weekend and enjoy craft brews while local musicians play in Tips Up.
We’re here to help you get to the top faster! White Hills Resort has modern rental skis, snowboards, and new helmets. We can set you up with Nordic skis and snowshoes too. Don’t forget to take a group lesson with one of our friendly instructors.
White Hills is the closest ski area to St. John’s and one of only two alpine resorts on the island of Newfoundland. An easy two-hour drive on the Trans Canada Highway, including a stop for breakfast at Goobies, will lead you to a community who knows how to make the most of the outdoors.
In May 1497, Giovanni Caboto, known to us as John Cabot, landed at Cape Bonavista. Cabot wasn’t the first person to explore the coast of this island, and we don’t think he had a snowboard with him, but he must’ve been impressed by the snow-covered summits of the interior. Hundreds of years later, views from the top of White Hills Resort out to the waters of the Atlantic Ocean are as Instaworthy as ever.
